Create a Share Shortcut

Create a share shortcut when you need to sync a folder pair with long folder paths. There is a 260 character limit on the combined folder paths. Creating shortcuts will enable you to bypass this limitation and sync deep folders.

Using the Command Line

  1. Select start - Run - type in cmd (or start the command line interface by your preferred method).
  2. Type NET USE [DriveLetter:] \\path\name (for example, NET USE Z: \\my\long\path\name).

Using the User Interface

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Select Tools.
  3. Select Map Network Drive.
  4. Select the drive letter.
  5. Browse to the long path name you want to map.
  6. Select Finish.
